The four logistics platforms in Aragon, namely PLAZA, PLATEA, PLHUS, PLFRAGA, and Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) are jointly exhibiting at the fifth edition of Logis Expo, which along with LOGIS Stock and LOGIS Trailer have been officially opened by Rafael Fernández, Councillor of Public Works, Town Planning, Housing and Transport of the Aragon Regional Government. The event, with participation by 94 firms from Spain, Denmark, France and Mexico, is a top level showcase for logistics, transport and industrial estates.
These events are held in Pavilion 7 at the Zaragoza Trade Fair until 20th April. Councillor Rafael Fernández de Alarcón explained the importance of why logistics platforms in Aragon are joining forces to secure investors “Aragon is going to attract customers with much more force by uniting the management of their logistics platforms in one single company, with more efficient management than we have at present, and thus achieving better results even in these difficult times” Likewise, the Public Works Councillor emphasised the importance of logistics for the development of Aragon “it is one of the most important potentials of Aragon, which will be further developed. It is one of three or four fundamental pillars on which our economy and competitive development are based, and therefore the Aragon Government is going to continue providing its support through logistics platforms” he added.
The four logistics platforms in Aragon and ZLC are participating in this event with a stand covering 100 square metres, where the value by the Aragon Regional Government is reflected in the privileged geo-strategic location of Aragon, entailing a competitive, differentiating advantage so that our territory leads a rangeof logistics infrastructures, communication and benchmark training at international level. To achieve this, almost 3,000 hectares have been developed comprising four platforms and logistics centres, also promoting ideas, innovation and the study of logistics at the Zaragoza Logistics Center This research institute was created by the Aragon Regional Government, in cooperation with the Massachusetts Technology Institute and Zaragoza University, with headquarters in PLAZA.
A logistics offer that is presented through the Zaragoza Logistics Platform, PLAZA, the biggest intermodal logistics platform in Europe, covering 13, 117, 977 m2. Its main feature is that it is based on an intermodal transport centre (rail, road and air) facilitating integration and giving rise to synergies in the logistics chain that all logistics operators need. At the same time, the functionality of the Mudejar dual carriagewayconnecting the Levant region with the north of Spain on its NATURAL route through Aragon, makes PLATEA a fundamental link of maritime goods for the most dynamic ports on the Mediterranean coast.
Meanwhile, the PLHUS logistics platform in Huesca provides infrastructures for companies whose activities are centred on markets in northern Spain, with a new dual carriageway linking the Basque Country, Pamplona, Huesca, Lerida and Barcelona, with all the potential of these production and consumption centres. Pl Fraga is not to be forgotten either. It is a platform located in the dynamic region of Bajo Cinca, in the extreme south-east of Huesca province, just 20 km from Lerida. Fraga is located at a key communications point between the axes of Madrid – Zaragoza – Barcelona and Bilbao – Zaragoza – Barcelona on the A-2 dual carriageway and the Ebro A-2 motorway. It has top level communications with France over the Pyrenees, with Huesca and Valencia. The presence of “Fundación Transpirenaica” at this event is also worthy of mention, owing to the importance of the Central Pyrenees crossing to boost logistics development in the Aragon Community, from the rest of Spain and south-west Europe. Hence, the Foundation shares space on the stand with the Aragon Council of the Chambers of Commerce. All this is evident in this fifth edition of the International Specialised Logistics, Goods Transport and Business Parks Trade Fair, Logis Expo, which will have a special effect on the close relations between infrastructures and communications; the transport of goods by road, rail, sea and air, and the specialised logistics sectors and existing logistics platforms. Intermodality will likewise be one of the main points at this event, which has recently been highlighted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, with international recognition, a distinction that contributes to increasing national and international prestige.
Over these three days the Zaragoza Trade Fair will be the home to sectors engaged in Logistics platforms, industrial land developers, logistics operators, transport companies, logistics services, reverse logistics, SMEs, defence, ports, maintenance and storage equipment and services, bodywork and commercial/industrial vehicles.
In addition to the exhibition stands, there will be a wide range of activities with workshops and round tables, where subjects such as hospital logistics, innovative measures for environmental efficiency and ecology in the logistics activity will be discussed. Moreover, next Friday, the Councillor of Public Works, Town Planning, Housing and Transport, Rafael Fernández de Alarcón will open the “Transport and Logistics in Spain. Current state of affairs and new perspectives for the sector” sessions, organised by the Spanish Association of Transport Centres. They are addressed to professionals, institutions, organisations and businesses from different economic, transport and logistics sectors.
