The Zaragoza Logistics Platform “Plaza” was rated fifth in the European Transport and Logistics Centres (“Freight Villages”) and the first in Spain in a survey carried out on over 90 logistics parks in Europe, by the German consultancy firm Deutsche GVZ and the Institute of Shipping Economics AND Logistics in Germany (shipping and logistics). Their report is the result of surveys in which these organisations compiled information about all the surveyed centres and then duly analysed by their technicians at all European facilities. The survey was carried out on over 90 logistics parks in over 30 European countries, although in the first stage there was a total of 240. This is the second edition of this European ranking process. In the previous edition, whose results were published in 2010, Plaza held 12th position. The list of the best logistics centres values the status of development of the different transport and logistics centres from the following perspectives: 1. – Intermodality 2. – Business structure 3. – Services. In the first section the German report emphasises “the excellent intermodality” of Plaza. Moreover, the survey highlights that Spain is pioneer in establishing transport and logistics centres. The methodology employed consisted of assessing 40 performance indicators, divided into 16 areas of action underscoring intermodality, security, status of development, analysis of strengths and weaknesses, location within the European Transport Network (TEN-T), etc.
