As announced this morning by Marta Gastón, Councillor of Economy, Industry and Employment of the Aragon Regional Government, the Röchling Group, through its Automotive division, will establish a production plant to manufacture upmarket plastic parts and components for the automotive industry at the Teruel Logistics Platform.
The project that Röchling Automotive plans to implement in Teruel, belongs to the Automotive division in order to meet the production requirements of one of its main clients, the Ford factory in Valencia, which until now had been supplied from the group’s plant in Vitoria. The decision to set up the plant in Platea is the result of the need to extend its facilities as a result of growing demand and in order to reduce logistics costs and delivery times. The setting-up of this new firm setting up in Teruel takes place after several months of negotiations from the Department of Economy, Industry and Employment. In order to develop this production project in Teruel, Röchling Automotive plans a site of around 40. 000 square metres in the Platea Logistics Platform, that will initially house a plant of 7, 000 square metres, that can be extended to 15, 000 square metres. The investment by the group to set up this project is estimated at around 15 million euros: four million euros for construction of the production plant and eleven million for machinery and industrial installations.
The forecast for job creation is around one hundred direct jobs and the approach is to start immediately with a group of 30-40 new workers, and as further orders are secured, to increase the number of employees. Moreover, the company has secured a purchase option over a further 40, 000 square metres. This group, originating as a family company, believes setting up in Platea could create new and better growth opportunities in the short and mid term, bearing in mind that today Spain is the second biggest manufacturer of automobiles in Europe, with Germany at the lead.
As regards the Aragon Regional Government, the Executive will support the necessary procedures to set up this business with water, gas, electricity and telecommunications supply companies, and in any matters concerning the waste produced by the company. More specifically, this investment project has been listed as a “Regional Interest” by the Aragon Regional Government, and therefore the lead times for processing all the permits and authorisations will be reduced by 50%. The Röchling Group was founded in 1822 and is currently owned by descendants of the original family, and is therefore a family owned multinational. It has three divisions: Automotive, Upmarket Plastic and Medicine, and is present in 22 countries, with 77 plants distributed around the world and a total workforce of 8, 500 employees. It currently invoices around 1. 6 billion Euros.
